| Bio: | Cindy Emch is the lesbian lovechild of of Sally Bowles and Marlena Dietrich, with the heart and laughter of the former and the sophistication and mysteriousness of the latter, and also with just a little naughty undercurrent of the Big Bad Wolf.
She is addicted to road trips and muscle cars, has driven through 43 of the 48 landlocked states and has been in 13 car accidents - none of which were her fault. She can often be found writing highway poems and love letters to her adventures on a daily basis.
Cindy's work has been been published in the Can I Sit With You project,LodeStar Quarterly, There Journal, Tough Girls 2: More Down and Dirty Dyke Erotica edited by Lori Selke, It's So You: 35 Women on Fashion, Beauty and Personal Style edited by Michelle Tea, and numerous chapbooks. She co-hosted the Aunty Cindy and Unka Lynnee show with Lynn Breedlove on Pirate Cat Radio from 2004 to 2007, and has been a curator for the National Queer Arts Festival since 2005. Emch is the founder and co-host of San Francisco's twice-a-month Queer Open Mic, which is a central resource and performance space for the queer literary scene.
Cindy has also worked in film and media in the Bay area since 1998. Once a core member of the Programming team for the SF LGBT Film Festival and an informal consultant to local film festivals like TrannyFest and the Asian American Film Festival, she currently works at AtomEntertainment (a division of MTV Networks) ensuring that a wide range of films by independent filmmakers are available online, on mobile phones and with partners like iTunes. She considers it part of her life's work to ensure that artists of all disciplines get their work out into the world and that they get paid for it.
She also strongly believes that it's not hard to be nice to each other.
